Hate the Drama, But I Love the Yanks!

Did you see the goal? Landon Donovan's rebound goal in the 91st minute that put the Yanks, as the world has nicknamed our US National Team, into the knockout stage of the World Cup. Excited? You know I am!!! I was literally sitting in my living room with my head in my hands, thinking hope had run out on the US, who had to win to advance in the World Cup. Then, out of nowhere the US converted a 4 on 2 break for a goal with only 3 minutes remaining in the game.

The drama for the US team these past 2 weeks has almost been too much. First there was the high profile matchup against world powerhouse England. Then, the US came from two goals down to tie Slovenia 2-2 (and would have won if the referee would not have made a REALLY bad call that cost the US what would have been the winning goal). Next, today's game when the US scored the winning goal with just 3 minutes left. Up next for the US--Ghana in the first round of the knockout stage. (Saturday, 2:30) Will you be watching? You know I will be!!!

  1. They lost to Ghana in 2006 which knocked them out of the World Cup, too bad they lost again 2-1.

  2. This is true. Sad game. Gave up another early goal, fought like crazy to tie and put the game into overtime. Then gave up another quick goal 3 minutes into OT. The US didn't have the energy to fight back and lost. Great goal by Ghana to take the lead though...GREAT goal!
